Dakota Fanning graces the cover of Marie Claire in next month's issue (out on newstands July 13). She looks GORGEOUS. Simply stunning. As you may remember I love Dakota Fanning. Loved her when she was missing her two front teeth and love her today, hair blowin' in the wind. She's just so classic and natural and simple. I hope she stays that way. God only knows what happened to Lindsay Lohan. I used to like her too. Dakota's different though, better. WAY BETTER. I have a sense about these things.
Seriously though, she's so gorgeous.
Did I already say that? I totally have a girl crush.
I am so excited. I am about to watch Julie and Julia. And when it's through I am going to be CRAVING boeuf bourguignon. I am also going to be DESPERATELY wishing I had a dutch oven. And butter is going to be my new best friend.
I think this movie is super cute. Besides making me wish I was a cook it makes me want to live in France. It also makes me wish I had a blog (oh wait, I do!). Meryl Streep is fabulous at Julia Childs. I watched a rerun of The French Chef on WGBH last weekend and I was almost convinced they were the same person. BON APPETIT!
I really like Amy Adams too. Especially when she is making that delicious looking chocolate cream pie in the beginning of the movie. I'd like to try a slice of that.
"Chocolate cream pie! You know what I love about cooking? I love that after a day when nothing is sure and when I say nothing, I mean nothing. You can come home and absolutely know that if you add egg yolks to chocolate and sugar and milk, it will get thick. That's such a comfort."
This movie has also taught me a few basics about cooking:
1) Don't crowd the mushrooms.
2) Pat the mean dry before you brown it.
3) You can never have too much butter.
I remember reading the book a few years ago, before the movie came out... it was a pretty good read, but I enjoyed the movie much more. The book is mostly about Julie and her blog and cooking through Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I love how the movie is a split between both Julie and Julia (maybe even a little more Julia, which I like). A decent book... good for back and forth on the train to work.
My apologies this post is a bit late. Since I wasn't able to attend the Oscars myself, I had to wait for the pictures to come out on the internet before I could write my post. I did watch the entire show this year, enjoyed hearing the award winners and specifically seeing all the movie stars! I love watching the red carpet pre-show (minus Ryan Seacrest). The fashion is the best part. Obviously, right? The glam and glitz and gorgeousness of it all.
Here are my personal favorites from the night:
Meryl Streep. FABULOUS.
Kristen Stewart. Can't help myself. She's awesome.
Maggie Gyllenhaal. I LOVED her look.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. He's beautiful. She's beautiful. BEAUTIFUL.
SJP. I think I like this dress. She looks amazing. It suits her.
This is my most favorite of all. Anna Kendrick. Her dress is SO elegant and I adore the color. Brilliant. I LOVE.
Watched 2 Christmas movies tonight. Which means once again it's the most wonderful time of the yeeeeear. LOVE both the movies I watched tonight and this is just the beginning. I love Christmas movies. Because I love Christmas! After Thanksgiving I am full swing in Holiday mode. There is just no stopping me. Here's the first two from the list of watched movies this year. MANY more to come. Oh just you wait.
The Santa Clause. An instant classic from the moment it came out back in 1994. I still remember just loving that little elf Judy and wishing that I too could be eating hot chocolate (shaken, not stirred!) and working away in Santa's workshop, pointy ears and all. Tim Allen's great in this one too. He does, after all, bring Neil the weenie whistle. Even though Neil doesn't believe. Silly Neil!!
The Holiday = super cute! Even though Cameron Diaz kind of annoys me sometimes, she does fit the character she plays in the movie. I just love the story line here: two women, unhappy and heartbroken, "switch places" and find love. How romantic. It's corny, I'll admit that, but I like corny. I'm looking for corny in my life. Plus, I just love the end when they're all dancing together to Aretha on New Years. Makes me want to dance too. So ovbiously, I do. Just have to.
So as some of you know, I am a ginormous Ellen fan. I try and watch the show EVERYday. Well yesterday Dakota Fanning was a guest and, oh man, she is all grown up now! She's 15 and it seems like she's turning into quite a lady. I've always really liked Dakota Fanning, I mean how can you not? She's a great actress, super cute, and really down to earth (unlike some of those other child actresses out there. Lindsay Lohan? Gross.). In I Am Sam I just fell in love with her and I've been following her ever since. Her latest film is the new twilight series movie New Moon, which I am SO EXCITED to see! She plays Jane, one of the villains, and it will be interesting to watch her as one of the "bad guys", a different kind of role than she usually plays. I found an old youtube video of her on Ellen from a few years back. She is so hysterical and adorable, you can't help but love her!! She is an amazing actress and I can't wait to see what kind of film she'll do next and what roles she will play in the future.
Here's a clip from when she was 9... it's super funny!
Hilary Swank was on Ellen this morning promoting her new movie: Amelia Earhart. SO EXCITING! LOVE Hilary Swank. She is most definitely my favorite actress. On Ellen I found out that she loves Halloween and her dogs. She rescued one of her dogs, Karoo, when she was filming in South Africa. He was full of worms and had a million flees and ticks, but she adopted him despite all that and brought him home. I really admire her for doing this because I personally don't think I would have done that. But then again, I've never been in South Africa and found a little pup, and have also never come across a sick dog. Anyways, love her in all the movies she's in. She is the 3rd youngest woman to win 2 Academy Awards. She's clearly amazing and fantastic.
This pic is from the movie Freedom Writers. It's one of my favorite Hilary Swank movies because she plays a young teacher trying to get her students, tough "city kids", to love writing. GREAT movie.
Here's a pic from the new movie, Amelia Earhart. She looks JUST like the real Amelia Earhart and from what she told Ellen (she worked for 8 weeks perfecting her accent and studying her) I bet she'll portray her perfectly. Can't wait to see it!
