GLEE.

So there's a lot of hype about this new show Glee on FOX, but it's all perfectly acceptable because I have been watching it every week and it truly is all it's hyped up to be. It's HILARIOUS. The show is essentially about "The Glee Club", a singing group with a bunch of "lima losers", if you will. They basically sing and dance and are ultimately trying to win some high school competition. This show is fabulous. And the characters are laugh-out-loud, pee-in-your pants kind of funny. I love them all but my favorite, by far, is Kurt. He is the best. At our apartment we are constantly rewinding all parts involving Kurt because he is HYSterical. Did you see the single ladies episode last week? OMG. His sashay's were incredible. I DIED laughing! I also can't help but love Emma, the guidance counselor, because her outfits are SO j.crew and SO delightful. She is always wearing cardigans too and that just makes me smile. If you don't watch Glee yet, you should. It's highly entertaining and totally worth your while. You can watch all episodes for free on FOX.com, just click on the link to watch full episodes and select Glee. You'll be singing along and dancing in your apartment/house in no time. And who doesn't love to do that?!!!

I have to end this post with the Glee promo. Because it's amazing:

Copley Farmers Market

Oh MY! I went to the Copley Farmers Market today and had a hay-day. The market runs on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5/19-11/24... which means I still have 2 more months of delicious and fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods. YUM-MMY. This is not my first time at the farmers market, but I did just start going this fall because I'm not working full time and actually have the hours off that the market is open. I love it. I look forward to Tuesdays so much now! Which, I might add, is AWESOME because seriously, who likes Tuesdays? Today I came home with all sorts of goodies: zucchini, heirloom tomatoes, raspberries, and the best chocolate banana bread in the whole entire country. I bought the big loaf this week because last time I bought the small loaf and ate the entire thing by myself in less than 2 hours. I thought I would be more generous and share this time around. Good thing I bought the big loaf too, because I ate quite a bit when I got home. Then Meg and Lauren had a go at it. And now there are only a few slices left (hopefully, they'll still be some around for b-fast in the AM). Man, that bread is something else.

Here's some photos I took today (some at the market and some of my purchases):

Hopefully I'll have time to swing by again on Friday. Just love having fresh local goodies in the APT. It's just so "animal, vegetable, miracle"!!

beacon hill.

Beacon Hill is hands down the most adorable neighborhood in Boston. It's just so quaint and old fashioned, almost like you've stepped back in time. The streets are lined with brick rowhouses and are so narrow the trees cover the roads creating a canopy overhead. The sidewalks are brick too, and there are gaslights for many of the street lamps. I was just over there tonight because two of my friends just moved into a super sweet apartment on Temple Street. It's SO Beacon Hill and beautiful. I hope to be over there again soon, helping decorate rooms and such (one of my life passions). I think my favorite part of Beacon Hill though has to be Charles Street on "the flat of the hill". It has tons of cute shops and delicious little places to eat. Just love walking around there on a sunny Saturday. It's the definition of classic. LOVE Beacon Hill!!

YAY!!

I am BEYOND thrilled right now. I just found my tiffanys "a" necklace!! It's funny too, because I was literally just thinking about it yesterday (WEIRD!). I got this necklace about 5 or 6 years ago for Christmas and until today hadn't seen it for at least 2 years. I bought this earring/necklace holder today at T.J. Maxx and so I was going through my old jewelry box looking for items to display and that is when I came across the "a" necklace! WooHoo! YAY YAY YAY. It took me awhile to untangle it, but now it's around my neck and is good as new! It didn't even tarnish after all those years of hiding. Now that's quality.

Mrs. Meyers!

Have you ever tried Mrs. Meyers Clean Day home cleaning products? I just started using them a few months ago and I don't think I'll ever go back. They smell so wonderful they just make you want to clean all the time. And since I like to clean all the time anyways, it's just such a perfect fit. Aromatherapeutic all the way. They come in a couple of different scents, my favorite being Geranium. Lemon Verbena is also very pleasant and they have a new scent just out: Basil. Hmmm, I'll have to give it a try! I also like to use the Baby Blossom for the hand soap in my bathroom. Smells delicious. You can find these great products at Whole Foods, Shaws, Target, or online at the Mrs. Meyers website. Here's to you Mrs. Meyers: The Clean Queen.

Little Orphan Annie.

Last night, while babysitting one of my favorite families, I got to watch Annie. Good 'ol Annie. Gosh I love that movie. I loved it back when I was 8, and I still love it today. I hadn't seen it in probably over 10 years, maybe more, but I still remembered every single word to every single song. Some things just never leave you. And I wasn't the only one singing along. The kids I babysit for know all the words too! Their awesome! Even the little 5 year old was singing along with Miss Hannigan. Priceless. I need to add pictures here of these kids because first of all, they are just seriously so adorable and secondly, it will just add a visual to the image in your head:

Can you imagine it? All of us in front of the TV, singing our hearts out to "It's A Hard Knock Life". So much fun. And I got paid for this. Amazing.

For a trip down memory lane, here's a clip of my most favorite part in the movie:

L.L.Bean: town and field tote.

I got this l.l. bean tote for my birthday (thanks, MOM!) and so far, I love it.

1. It's practical.
2. It's sturdy.
3. It's spacious.
4. It's CLASSIC.

I have only been using it for a couple of days, but I have only positive things to say. I only need to carry one bag around now- it holds EVERYTHING. Plus, it's much nicer looking than a canvas tote. And its wears nicer too. Carry around a Vinyard Vines tote for a few months and it starts to look like a dog chewed it up. This leather tote on the other hand will only get better with age. You can buy your own AWESOME leather tote by clicking here: You will love this bag!

good for you, Ben Linus.

I just found out via the Bonnie Hunt Show that Michael Emerson (aka Benjamin Linus) won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama. GO LOST! This guy pretty much acts the same way in real life as he does on the show: VERY awkward. He had the same slowness to his voice and the same eye-bulging moments as Ben does when interviewing with Bonnie... there were some parts of the interview that reminded me so much of Ben that I actually shuddered with fear. But surprisingly, in the end, he won me over with his goofiness. Kudos to him for winning! Love that show!!!

Cuttyhunk.

This past weekend Zan and I went out to the Elizabeth Islands, off of Cape Cod. I'd never even heard of these islands before this summer and neither had Zan. When we were in CC my mom asked Zan what they were and when he realized he didn't know he looked them up to find out. After doing some research we decided to take a trip out to the last island, called Cuttyhunk. It's very small and only has about 50 or so year-round residents. More people inhabit the island in the summers, mostly in July and August. Since it's the end of September the island was VERY quiet, but also very relaxing. It's one of the most serene places I've ever been. There is one market (open 10-12 and 3-5 daily), one souvenir shop, and one place to eat. That's it. Oh, and there are no cars... everyone drives around in golf carts. It's so awesome. We had a great time walking around the island (found a little one room school house!), exploring the beach front and enjoying the ocean view from our little cabin at Pete's Place. We ate at Bart's Cart for lunch both days and bought lobsters for dinner on Saturday night. YAY! It was a great weekend trip, the perfect way to end summer, and so easy to visit from Boston!

"make life sweeter...eat dessert first!"

Went to Flour in the South End tonight for a quick dinner. Their BLT is insane. Best I've ever had. I never wanted it to end. I treated myself to something sweet to end off the meal: a chocolate hazelnut cookie. WOW.

Check this place out if your ever around the South End. It's amazing!

Birthday fun at TORO.

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate my 26th birthday! Zan, Meg, Josh and I tried out Toro on Washington Street in the South End. The mom I am babysitting for knows all the hot spots for restaurants and such so I had her write down a list of good places. I am so glad I picked Toro because it was amazingly delicious!
It was super crowded too, which to me is always a good sign. We had to wait about 45 minutes for our table but were able to get 4 seats at the bar and have some fun cocktails. I got a delicious La Granada (Christiania vodka, pomegranate, housemade grenadine, splash rosé cava)... it was excellent. Yummy, yummy. The dinner was tapas so we got to try out tons of delicious little mini plates. Everything was great- definitely Top Chef quality! We got a bunch of different plates between the 4 of us but I think my favorites were the Atun Crudo (Yellowfin tuna with citrus and soy), the Patatas Bravas (Fried potatoes with alioli and spicy tomato sauce), and the Hamburguesas de Kobe (Mini burgers with smoked tomato, alioli and pickled red onion)-- DEVINE! Finished off the night with some fried dough sticks with smoked chocolate on the side, topped with a birthday candle of course. It was an interesting dessert! I will be going back to this restaurant for sure. It gets 5 stars in my book!

SWEET.

In honor of my birthday tomorrow (!!) I treated myself to some cupcakes from this adorable little cupcake store in Harvard Square, Sweet , on my way home from class tonight. I bought 3 cupcakes: 1 for Meg and 2 for me. It is my birthday tomorrow after all. Everyone knows you need to eat a delicious vanilla raspberry cupcake on the morning of your birthday. OBViously. We ate the 2 chocolate ones tonight and boy were they scrumptious. SWEET!

Stuart (Little)

Soooooo we have a little mouse in our apartment. It has been around for a couple of weeks now and we've been trying to catch it via an OLD SCHOOL mouse trap (shown at the right). Clearly, it's not working. Haha this mouse trap is literally straight out of Disney's Cinderella. Only our mouse is no Gus Gus. Our mouse is named Stuart. Like Stuart Little. Because he is... so.... little. I named him today after Josh spotted him in the cupboard. Josh says he is teeensy-tiny so I decided this name is fitting. I imagine he is a cute one too; however, mice are unsanitary- and so as cute as he may be, he needs to leave. SOON!

Here is the email conversation between Josh and I today regarding Stuart:

Hahahahah OMG! In the pantry?!?!!!! That little sucker. I'm so glad you spotted him though so now we know where he is coming from. We should try to block the hole.

Good idea about not telling meg. It would distroy her. Haha she would never eat anything out of the pantry again!!!

I have class soon but I will see you tonight. The mouse is going DOWN.

**Sidenote to Lauren: If you are reading this be assured the mouse will not be killed. Please hurry home to help us save/dispose of Stuart. Meg especially needs you more than ever right now.
